Rhino Africa is Africa’s leading online tour operator, bringing over 15,000 guests each year to Africa. We couldn’t do it without our extraordinary team of travel experts!

They travel to all the top destinations, hotels and lodges in Southern and Eastern Africa so that they can give first-hand advice to our discerning and intrepid clients.

Billy heads up the travel consultant team as Sales Manager. Having travelled to more than 150 countries he’s full of stories and experience. You can find out more about Billy in the Meet The Team section on our website and see our Q&A with him below in our new series, “Get To Know Your Consultant”.

Q&As

1. What do you love most about your job?
How bowled over people are after their first visit to Africa. In many cases it changes people’s lives and it is great to be part of the whole process.

2. What are your top 3 destinations you have visited in Africa?
Okavango Delta, Madagascar and Kenya!

3. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten on your travels?
Guinea Pig in Peru! African food is tame in comparison to some other places…

4. What is your most memorable safari moment?
Sunset in the Masai Mara and watching hyenas hunting – just to name a couple.

5. What is the one thing you have to take with you on every trip?
Music (I-Pod). I like memorable moments to have a soundtrack. Also books.

6. Where in the World do you still want to travel to?
Ethiopia and back to South America to see more. I want to learn to speak Spanish in a Spanish-speaking country.

7. If you could go on a dream safari with anyone at all, who would it be and why? Fictional/Real; Dead/Alive
My Dad. He passed away years ago. He taught my brother and I about the bush and animals but I started working at Rhino Africa after he passed away.

8. What is your favourite (city/beach) hotel that you always recommend to clients travelling to Africa?
The Cape Grace has always been a favourite of mine and I always recommend Emily Moon on the Garden Route as well, although it is quite different.

9. What is your favourite safari lodge that you always recommend to clients travelling to Africa?
Londolozi in the Sabi Sand. And Jamala in Madikwe is a personal favourite as well.

10. Where is your favourite place to eat in Cape Town?
Willoughby’s in the V&A Waterfront, without a doubt.
