Q&A

1. What do you love most about your job? The best part is travelling and discovering beautiful places in Africa that I wouldn’t be able to see or afford personally. The other side is really making clients happy and I am always thrilled to have made their dream vacation come true.
2. What are your top 3 destinations you have visited in Africa? Okavango Delta – for the animals and scenic beauty that you don’t find anywhere else in Africa; Kalahari (Tswalu) – for the contrast in the scenery; the red sand and desolation has a certain appeal!; Chobe National park – for the elephants; watching these gentle giants playing in the water is really special.
3. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten on your travels? Whale in Japan when I spent a year there – you eat weird and wonderful things; it’s a place of discoveries.
4. What is your most memorable safari moment? I have two: Seeing Meerkats in the wild (keeps you entertained for hours) at Tswalu and watching hundreds of elephants playing in the water at the Chobe River.
5. What is the one thing you have to take with you on every trip? A good book – there are times when you need to chill out on the deck while on safari and relax, a good book is great company.
6. Where in the World do you still want to travel to?  East Africa (Serengeti / Masai Mara) to see the famous migration, as well as China because I’ve lived in the East, this would be an interesting place to compare my experiences.
7. If you could go on a dream safari with anyone at all, who would it be and why?  Fictional/Real; Dead/Alive. My husband – my dedicated travel partner.
8. What is your favourite (city/beach) hotel that you always recommend to clients travelling to Africa? I like One&Only Le Saint Geran in Mauritius for great water activities or island getaway in Mozambique.
9. What is your favourite safari lodge that you always recommend to clients travelling to Africa? Tswalu – for it’s completely different, but beautifully scenic landscape and unique animals.
10. Where is your favourite place to eat in Cape Town? River Café, Constantia Uitsig – everything there is simple but well put together and in a stunning location on a wine estate overlooking the mountains and vineyards.
