My Trip | No place like the African bush…

May 14, 2014

Our CEO, David, has travelling down to a T. He manages to effortlessly flitter from one locale to another, across ocean or savanna, with unflappable calm.

He’s ready to hop on the next flight as long as his iPhone, noise-cancelling earphones and baby, Matthew, are in tow (not necessarily in that order of importance). Luckily, these three things are pretty much all you need these days in way of creature comforts. Earphones and baby cancel each other out and iPhone plays the role of camera and memo pad, among other nifty things.

On a recent safari in the Sabi Sand, David did us the honour of sending back some photos (with the caption: “Morning Drive… there’s no place like the African bush”) that he shot at Londolozi Private Game Reserve, clicking his iPhone camera through the lens of the ranger’s binoculars. Mr Inventive…

Et voila… Take a look at Africa through David’s lenses.

Tamlin has been exploring, writing about and photographing Africa ever since her first job as a photojournalist for Getaway Magazine. She's lived on an island, eaten with lions, sailed catamarans in the Indian Ocean, tracked wild dogs with Kinglsey Holgate, and white water rafted down the Zambezi and has kept just about every airplane ticket that has crossed her hands.

  • How can you possibly go wrong at Londolozi! I will try the ‘through the binos’ shots next year when I return.
