  • 12 Photos that Show Why Cape Town is Considered the Most Beautiful City in the World

    By Matthew Sterne |

It was once said that Cape Town, lying at the tip of Africa, is like a ballet shoe on the heel of a boxer. The author was probably referring to the grace and splendour of this celebrated city. At dusk and dawn especially, the golden light of the southern sun transforms the city into a place of incomparable beauty. The following photos are excellent examples of this. The photos are just some of our recent entries in Africa's Photographer of the Year, a competition searching for the best photographs of Africa with a grand prize of a 10-day safari for two valued at $25,000. Cape Town is the first of four categories. The others are the Big 5, Victoria Falls and Wild Africa. To enter your photos or find out more, click here. Now then, let's take a look at those photos! • 5 Pro Tips for Composition in Wildlife Photography

    By Matthew Sterne |

What makes a good photo? That was the question we put to Rhino Africa’s award-winning wildlife photographer Simon Watson. Africa's Photographer of the Year is searching for the best photographs of Africa with a grand prize of a 10-day safari for two on offer for the winner as well as smaller prizes for category winners. Enter now! “To me, what defines a good photo, is an image that communicates something that words cannot,” Simon said slowly after some consideration. He thought for a bit longer, uncharacteristically quiet and with a faraway look in his eyes, and then added, “There is a black and white image by a fine art photographer who I came across when I was visiting the bookstore across from the Tate Modern in London. This fantastic-looking bookstore was selling loads o...

  • 27 Stunning Wildlife Photos Taken by some of Africa's Best Photographers

    By Matthew Sterne |

It seems completely unfair that some people get to spend their days travelling around Africa snapping photos of wildlife. But I suppose it's also unfair that some animals wake up and find themselves on the hit list of a throng of hungry predators. Maybe I shouldn't complain. At Rhino Africa, we often collaborate with wildlife photographers who catch our eye and portray Africa's wildlife in clever and beautiful ways. Our Instagram channel is a perfect example of this. We went back over the past few months to pick our favourites. This is what we found. "This hippo is the loser male of the group. After grazing alone he went back in the water with his group sitting away from the dominant male and his ladies. Mana Pools, Zimbabwe" - @dittinitti #RATakeover _________________________...
