Q&A

1. What do you love most about your job? Putting together the most unforgettable trips for my clients. I always want my clients to have the best possible African experience and I do that by bringing passion and personal experiences across in my quotes.

2. What are your top 3 destinations you have visited in Africa? Okavango Delta purely for the untouched nature. It’s a world apart from city life. Tswalu Kalahari for its open vast plains. Singita Lebombo in the Kruger National Park has the most unbelievable game viewing – seeing a huge pride of lions there was an experience I will never forget.

3. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten on your travels? Warthog on a spit braai in Namibia was the wildest tasting meat I have eaten.

4. What is your most memorable safari moment? Seeing a pride of 19 lions at Singita Lebombo.

5. What is the one thing you have to take with you on every trip? My camera. I love taking lasting memories.

6. Where in the World do you still want to travel to? Spain – for the stunning architecture and the history that the country has to offer which I have never been exposed to before.

7. If you could go on a dream safari with anyone at all, who would it be and why? Fictional/Real; Dead/Alive : I would take Madonna to Royal Malewane. She has been my idol since I was 7 years old. I’m now 37… do I need help? I would let her experience what true royal African experience is all about, get the girl out of the city and calm her down a bit.

8. What is your favourite (city/beach) hotel that you always recommend to clients travelling to Africa?  Cape Town of course and especially during the summer. It is my home town. I’m Cape Town born and bred. Nothing beats seeing Table Mountain as you fly in! It has white sandy beaches and beautiful sunsets. There is nothing better.

9. What is your favourite safari lodge that you always recommend to clients travelling to Africa? Royale Malewane is one of my all time favourites. It is truly an oasis in the wild with superb game viewing and a spa to die for. The lodge has the most gorgeous suites each with a private deck and plunge pool  fit for “Royalty”. It has a rather expensive price tag but every cent counts and why not spoil yourself with a safari of a lifetime?

10. Where is your favourite place to eat in Cape Town?  The Far East is a passion of mine. I think I was Oriental in my past life. Anything Asian goes but Saigon on Kloof Street is my favourite place.
