Shoga Restaurant Review

by Katherine Terry

Anyone who happens to read my blog entries with any sort of regulatory will probably think that I do nothing else than eat my way around Cape Town Restaurants

Last night I took one of my clients to dinner at Shoga Restaurant in Cape Town. Patty Lufkin was mid way through a 30 day itinerary and since she was travelling alone I thought it would be nice to catch up with her and find out how her trip was going so far. Well the good news was that Patty couldn't say enough good things about her trip so far, having visited Victoria Falls, Chobe Chilwero, Xugana Island Lodge, Stanleys Camp, Grootbos and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront Hotel.

Dinner was delicious and served in a very relaxed and informal atmosphere. For starters Patty chose the Duck Spring Rolls served with Hoison Dipping Sauce, whilst I opted for the Prawn Skewers with Basil and Chilli. For main course we both dined on the Norwegian Salmon with Pesto Crust, Lentils and Mash. By the time dessert came around we were far too full - but looking across at the other tables, the Creme Brulee looked particularly delicious and all the plates were going back to the kitchen empty !

Shoga and its sister restaurant Ginja are two of Cape Town's most talked about restaurants. Ginja is a more formal atmosphere, whilst Shoga feels more like a lofty winebar, with relaxed armchairs and sofas around the bar area. Portions are more than generous and the food blends a variety of flavours, textures and aromas to create some tantalising dishes.

Booking is absolutely essential.
