The A380 takes to the Skies

by David Ryan

SINGAPORE Airlines operated its first commercial flight, SQ380, on its A380 from Singapore to Sydney today.  The flight departed Changi Airport at 08h00 and arrived at Sydney Airport at 17h25. Passengers on today’s flight were treated to a specially-created champagne brunch prepared by two on-board chefs.

The aircraft will make the return leg of the trip, from Sydney to Singapore, tomorrow departing at 16h00 and arriving at 22h15.
Most of the seats for this trip were sold on eBay and the S$1,9m (R8,6m) raised will be donated to charity.

Johannesburg's O R Tambo International airport's newly completed arrivals wing is designed to cater for the new A 380.  We look forward to the inclusion of the A380 on the African route in the not too dsitant future.
