Africa - Europe on KLM

by Katherine Terry

I have just flown on KLM Royal Dutch Airline from Cape Town to Manchester ( and back again ! )

The flight from Cape Town to Amsterdam leaves really late at night, which gave me a full day in Cape Town and meant that by the time I was on the flight I was so exhausted that it was easy to sleep.  There was lots of leg room and the mini TV screen gave me hours of entertainment. The food was OK,  I'd ordered a Gluten Free Meal as it seemed the closest to Low Carb Meal on the list of options that KLM give you - and the added advantage was that I did have my meal 15 minutes before anyone else did.

Amsterdam Airport was quite a shock to my system at 10h00 . I decided that I have definately become very use to African Airports, as Schipol seemed huge in comparision. There were signs telling you that it would take 10 - 15 minutes to walk to a particular gate.

The most important thing to remember when travelling through any European Airport to any other destinations is that your hand baggage has to comply with the new European directive in terms of security. This means :

The return flight from Manchester to Cape Town was a day time flight. Never a big fan of day time flights, I actually enjoyed this one. I managed to watch 4 old movies and the vision of me crying my eyes out watching * Terms of Endearment * at 33, 000 feet, must have kept my fellow passengers rather amused !
