Rhino Africa Safaris

Tourism Indaba 2007

by Mandy Schreiber

12 Rhino Africans spent last weekend at South Africa’s Tourism Indaba in Durban, KwaZulu Natal. For those in the know this is the most significant annual event for promoting Southern African Tourism to the international market. Travel industry specialists from all over the world descend upon Durban’s International Convention Centre (ICC) to network and gather information on the wealth of natural splendour that Southern African destinations have to offer. Exhibitors range from lodges owner to marketing groups to wine estates to local tour operators like Rhino Africa who cater for inbound international travel.

That said, we are convinced that a massive percentage of relationships established during the 4 day travel extravaganza are done after hours over copious glasses of champagne and laughter! It really offers the industry an opportunity to gather, network and most of all realise that we are all privelaged to live in such a beautiful part of the world and that the more we work together to promote and protect it – the better off we will all be!

A BIG thank you to Inspirational Places and CC Africa for their hospitality to the Rhino delegates. And if you want to know what Durban’s coolest bar/restaurant is then you simply have to visit Bean Bag Bohemia. Guy, the owner of Bean Bag has certainly managed to create a relaxed and stylish atmosphere that kept us all awake until the wee hours of the morning on Sunday night with several other Indaba delegates who had heard of this super-cool spot!

Thanks to all who entertained us at Indaba - we all learnt a lot. I know all the newbies had a great time (partying & gaining product knowledge that is!)

Indaba 2007 !!! What an amazing experience, not only because of all socializing and champagne drinking, but the amazing opportunity to meet the fabulous people and product we were introduct to. Thanks to everyone who entertained and hosted the Rhino Africa team, we certainly learn a lot and most importantly we built relationships. Here's to Indaba 2008 where the Rhino's will have the chance to return the favour...
