So the other day Iain, my husband, and I took a drive around the Peninsula. As per my previous post, we tend to go to Scarborough quite often, because my family has house there. However today we decided to explore another part of the Peninsula – particularly the area of Hout Bay. But we took the long route, starting from the southern suburbs through the city area to Camps Bay. We stopped for a brief moment at the beach and sat on the rocks and stared at the most prominent mountains being the Twelve Apostles. I often forget, even though I live here, how beautiful Cape Town is and that within a few minutes from where we live, we can be in the most beautiful setting – of which may people travel the world to find! And it’s right on our doorstep – how awesome is that!
After our brief moment of awe, we continued along towards the upmarket suburb of Llandudno to the seaside town of Hout Bay. The day was perfect and the beach was therefore quite crowded – it happened to be a public holiday (Labour Day, in fact) and therefore every person in Cape Town who could get to the beach was at the beach! We took a stroll to the other side, minding the crowds and ended up eating fish & chips at the Mariner’s Wharf at the harbour on the other side of the beach. Besides the fact that it was quite busy with people, we had a great time. It was such a nice outing that I am looking forward to doing it again soon. Mariners Wharf is fantastic for Fish & Chips. Another fantastic destination for Fish and Chips which I recently discovered, and had the pleasure of experiencing is Live Bait in Kalk Bay. Situated in the Harbour itself the food is delicious and its lovely to watch the fishing ships come and go from the Kalk Bay Harbour.
