I have always seen Kommetjie as too far to drive to but considering it is closer to the city than Franschhoek,it is well worth the visit.
Situated 30 minutes from Cape Town, this seaside village is a stones throw from Cape Point, Kalk Bay and Simonstown.
Long Beach itself is eight kilometers of pristine beach and the location of a beautiful boutique hotel called The Long Beach.
I was lucky enough to spend Friday night with my partner at this retreat.Located on the beach with private access from the property and a gorgeous garden and swimming pool.
We were welcomed by Elvis who instantly told us that this is now our home for the duration of our stay. The six bedrooms all have views of the sea as well as private balconies.
We settled in, threw off our shoes, opened a bottle of wine and watched the sunset from our loungers.
Diner can be arranged in-house but we met up with some friends and had dinner in the town.
We awoke to the smell of fresh sea air and the crash of waves on the beach. A scrumptious breakfast awaited us with freshly brewed coffee filling the air.
The hotel also offers internet facilities, massage treatments as well as secure parking should you be self-driving.
So what more could be said other than when again in Cape Town and your itinerary permits, take 2 days out and treat yourself to ultimate relaxation that is the Long Beach.
