You would have thought we were kings and queens, celebrities, stars and hollywood hunks as we sipped champagne and oogled the view from the One&Only Penthouse suite. And yes oogled is the correct word, the view of Table Mountain on one side, the V&A Waterfront and the Greenpoint stadium on the other is literally sexy! We certainly felt like Rock stars, the rooms at the One&Only Cape Town are luxurious enough to make every guest feel like Mick Jagger! And our night of revelry at the One&Only began there on that fantastic balcony with chilled champagne in hand and ended.. elsewhere, but no more on that!
Sol Kerzner has brought something special to Cape Town in the form of the One&Only Cape Town Hotel. Situated in the vibrant Victoria & Alfred Waterfront the hotel offers unprecedented levels of luxury and exclusivity, a serene haven amidst the energy of the bustling city. The sumptuous rooms and suites feature stunning mountain views or are situated on the private garden island surrounded by meandering waterways. A second private island is where you will find Cape Town’s finest wellness spa!
Dining at the One&Only surpasses even the luxuriousness of the suites, Maze restaurant on one side serves up Gordon Ramsays tasty menu and on the other Nobu features the food of legendary chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa. Sandwhiched between the two eateries is the Vista Bar which has floor to ceiling windows showcasing the fantastic Mountain views.
But for us, not even these two fantastic restaurants would do. We were shown to a private dining room where a band kept us entertained with some ‘mood’ music and smiling waiters kept us in drink, perhaps a little to enthusiastically! The food was delicious, the wine superb and the company as ever with Rhino Africans, exemplary. After dinner we found ourselves once again in the Vista bar and later some of us went for a swim and others found that even the gowns are ultra luxurious and that the beds are every bit as soft and comfortable as they look, but are high enough to hurt yourself climbing off!
Saturday morning saw us head down for a slap up breakfast and the unanimous view that this Hotel really is one of a kind, in fact it’s the One… and Only
