Meet Geraldine Symington

Today we chat to travel consultant, Geraldine. Her passion for travel has taken her across Africa as well as to Singapore, Dubai, Thailand, England and France, to name a few. Find out more about her in our Meet The Team section online.

1. What do you love most about your job? I love creating new and exciting holidays for our clients and sharing this beautiful continent with them.

2. What are the top 3 destinations you have visited in Africa? Botswana – it’s such a phenomenal country, from the people to the nature and wildlife. The Cape Winelands – it’s a great destination all year around, whether you’re with family and friends or celebrating something romantic. Sabi Sand – it is one of my favourite safari areas. The game viewing is phenomenal and you can get so close to the animals. I would recommend every first-time traveller to South Africa to spend at least 3 or 4 nights here!

3. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten on your travels? Last year in September at Victoria Falls, I tried Mopani worms. Never again though!

4. What is your most memorable safari moment? Seeing lions mating in the Sabi Sand – it’s a very rare experience to see wild cats mate in the wild.

5. What is the one thing you have to take with you on every trip? Sun block and my safari hat.

6. Where in the World do you still want to travel to? Lake Malawi – I’m dying to go snorkelling in the lake.

7. If you could go on a dream safari with anyone at all, who would it be and why? Fictional/Real; Dead/Alive : Lee Evans, the English stand-up comedian. He cracks me up! And I can only imagine the material he could create on safari!

8. What is your favourite (city/beach) hotel that you always recommend to clients travelling to Africa? The Cape Grace is one of my favourite hotels to recommend to clients – the location, service and amenities are world-class. The feedback from my clients who stay there is always phenomenal!

9. What are your top 3 favourite safari lodges that you always recommend to clients travelling to Africa?  Londolozi, Chitwa Chitwa, and Lion Sands 1933 for a family.

10. Where is your favourite place to eat in Cape Town? Café Paradiso great location and fantastic food.
