Oprah On Safari

In between attending Tina Turner’s Zurich wedding and a scheduled appearance on David Letterman’s Late Show, Oprah Winfrey flew to the Serengeti Plains…

Over the weekend, Oprah shared her incredible Serengeti adventure, with partner Stedman, on Instagram – all the exclusive game drives and wildlife sightings, the memorable hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti, the African sunrises and meals on the plains. Several high-profile names have headed out on African safaris of late – from model Miranda Kerr to musicians The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Lady Gaga and Bon Jovi.

Of course, we’re not star-struck autograph-seekers or anything… but it says a lot about a place when Oprah chooses to stay there. She is considered the most influential woman in the world after all…

Oprah's African Safari in Singita Grumeti

We had to know where she stayed and her pick was no surprise – the private Singita Grumeti Game Reserve, with camps secluded enough for the TV presenter to enjoy some luxury and privacy far from the madding crowds.

Singita has six properties within the Grumeti, which shares an unfenced border along the northern boundary of the world-famous Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. The Grumeti River plays host to the amazing Great Migration when thousands of wildebeest and zebra pour across the croc-infested water to face the lions on the other side.

Oprah saw her first ostrich, encountered the mighty buffalo, watched elephants splashing about at the waterhole and let sleeping lions lie…
