Show Us Your Africa

June 30, 2017

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” – Aaron Siskind.

Here, at Rhino Africa, we love to showcase the allure of Africa, and much of that can be done through the beauty and subtlety of photography. We love to see incredible images that inspire a love for this fine continent.

Our new photographic category:

With our Africa’s Photographer of the Year competition, we absolutely adore seeing life through the perspective of various photographers. And that’s why we are excited to introduce our third theme without further ado, our new category is going to be…. ‘Africa Through My Lens’.

This category aims to celebrate culture, landscapes and wildlife. It can, however, be open to interpretation and possibly could reshape our perspective of Africa. The beauty of the category is giving photographers free reign to show us what Africa means to them, through their lens.

We all experience the same world but through different lenses. That is why photography is such an expressive medium. It shows us an angle or point of view we may not have seen through our own eyes. We want to know what Africa means to you; is it the silhouetted baobab in the bright orange sky? Or an action shot of a leopard making a move on its prey? Maybe it’s that perfect shot of a rare bird. Whatever Africa means to you, we showcase in our Africa’s Photographer of the Year’s gallery.

Inspiration for “Africa Through My Lens”

Here are a few interesting shots, taken by our in-house photography gurus, to get the creative juices flowing:

Saddle stork in the long grass

A shooting star! African night sky from around the campfire

An elegant stork glides above water

A bushman eating a scorpion

A zebra drinking from the waterhole

A sunset over Botswana

We are looking forward to seeing your entries!
