The Singita Game Reserves properties in South Africa have been named No.1 in Africa and the Middle East for the second consecutive year in the 12th annual Travel & Leisure World’s Best Awards 2007 (USA). The South African Singita properties comprise Singita Sabi Sand (Boulders and Ebony Lodges) in the game-rich Sabi Sand Reserve and Singita Kruger National Park (Lebombo and Sweni Lodges) in the adjacent Kruger National Park.
“These achievements on the world stage emphasise that safari destinations rank high in the preference of discerning travellers. Our many repeat guests encourage us to enhance the unrivalled Singita experience even further whilst building on our strong foundation and reputation for service excellence at all our properties,” said Luke Bailes, CEO of Singita Game Reserves.
In addition to the top spot in Africa and the Middle East, Singita garnered the number two position in the “Top 100 Hotels in the World” category as well as the number two designation in the “Top 15 Small Hotels” category.
Singita is also making strides in East Africa with the latest addition to the group, Singita Grumeti Reserves. Singita Grumeti Reserves earned a slot on the “15 to Watch,” a list of properties that Travel & Leisure’s editors predict will win a World’s Best award in the near future. Located in Tanzania, Singita Grumeti Reserves is composed of three spectacular lodges – Sasakwa Lodge, Sabora Tented Camp and Faru Faru Lodge – all situated on the famous migratory route in the Serengeti.
The Travel & Leisure Magazine World’s Best Awards 2007 winners were announced on NBC’s Today Show and will be honoured at an awards ceremony in New York City on July 23. The winners were selected via a questionnaire developed by the editors of Travel & Leisure Magazine. Respondents reported where they had travelled worldwide and rated only the destinations, properties, and companies that were relevant to their recent travel experiences.
