Londolozi – Protector of all living things…

By Craig Harding on September 10, 2007

I have to be completely honest when I say Londolozi, for me, was the highlight of this trip.  Having sold this “mystery” product many times during the last 6 months I was delighted with the opportunity to see it for myself.  Having heard so much about the different lodges, the passion of the staff and management plus the outstanding level of game viewing, my expectations were high, which can be dangerous in this industry as you never quite know what to expect !

When we walked into the first lodge, Pioneers Camp, everything just seemed to fall into place.  We were greeted with big smiles, warm welcomes and a much needed, refreshingly cool hand towel.  After we sorted out the luggage we headed off down the path in anticipation of seeing the other 4 camps : Founders Camp, Granite Suites, Varty Camp and Tree Camp, all of which offer a different atmosphere in their own exquisite position within the Londolozi Reserve.

Founders Camp & Varty Camp are the two family friendly lodges, Varty Camp being the heart and sole of Londolozi and also one of the first established on the reserve dating back to the 1920’s.  The guest areas of both camps have been beautifuly designed to drink in the visuals of the surrounding bush as well as the vocal sounds of different bird and animal life.  Unfortunately we didn’t get to see one of the Varty or Founders Chalets, as they were fully booked, but we did see one of the Vary Suites which were stunning.  A well appointed bedroom with a lounge area, large bathroom and of course private viewing deck with plunge pool – what more could you want !!!

The Granite Suites and Tree Camp Suites are definitely in their own league.  Walking into these amazing spaces you honestly feel like you are a part of nature.  I could go into description but we’d be here all day and it still wouldn’t do them any justice – you just have to go and see for your selves…

All in all Londolozi offers a diverse range of accommodation which will be welcomed by each and every individual guest.  It is run with passion and respect for nature therefore, in my eyes, Londolozi is not only the “protector of all living things” but its a home from home in Africa !!!
