Global warming and climate change should be on everyone’s agenda as they affect us all. Whether you choose to do your bit by changing all the light bulbs in your house to eco-friendly bulbs, drive a Prius or recycle, every little bit helps. One luxury safari camp in Africa is doing more than most and leading the eco-friendly way forward in the hospitality industry, that is Zibadianja Camp in Botswana.

Zibadianja Camp is a small and intimate luxury safari camp in the 30 000 acre Selinda Reserve near the beginning of the Savute channel and as of the 30th of October 2008 the camp runs on the power of the sun! That’s right, gone are noisy gas guzzling generators and in their place the silent efficiency of solar power. All the camps electricity needs are supplied by a solar farm hidden in the bush behind the camp. The camps lighting, fridges, freezers and guest appliances are all run from this renewable resource! Add to that the fact that the camp operates a strict waste management policy and is constructed out of renewable resources and you have a luxury camp with possibly the smallest carbon footprint in Botswana if not the whole of Africa.

So if you are keen to travel in an eco-friendly fashion, then Zibadianja Camp should be on your list. Not only is it eco-friendly but the camp has a perfect position in the game filled Selinda Reserve and accommodates just eight guests in it’s four luxury tents. You can read more about it on our website here: Zibadianja Camp

Just one more thing to note, Zibadianja Camp will be changing its name to Zarafa Camp from the 1st of January 2009.
