Meet Nomveliso Ntunja

Today’s Q&A features our travel consultant – and East Africa specialist – Nomveliso. Her passion for travelling and Africa made her choose a career in Tourism and we’re lucky to have her for ourselves! Find out more about Nomveliso in our Meet The Team section.

1. What do you love most about your job? Assisting my clients and making their dream vacations a reality, especially when their expectations are exceeded in all aspects, from the planning phase to after the trip!

2. What are your top 3 destinations you have visited in Africa? Kenya, Tanzania and the Kruger National Park.

3. What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten on your travels? Esuguroi Honeybeer at a Masai Village outside the Masai Mara park. It’s a Masai Traditional Beer made from water, honey and osuguroi plant roots (which are used  for fermentation).

4. What is your most memorable safari moment? Witnessing the Great Migration in the southern Serengeti in April. Thousands of wildebeest and zebra spread all the over the Serengeti Plains… It was the most spectacular animal sighting I have ever seen!

5. What is the one thing you have to take with you on every trip? Hand sanitizer and wipes.

6. Where in the World do you still want to travel to? Uganda/Rwanda for the Mountain Gorilla’s, chimps and birdlife. After East Africa, New York City is most definitely my next destination!

7. If you could go on a dream safari with anyone, who would it be and why? My Son…! I strongly believe that a safari is just one of those life experiences one should share with someone dear to heart.

8. What is your favourite (city/beach) hotel that you always recommend to clients travelling to Africa? Mnemba Island Lodge – on Mnemba Island, a private island off the coast of Zanzibar. It’s very exclusive and intimate. It truly is barefoot luxury at its best!

9. What is your favourite safari lodge that you always recommend to clients travelling to Africa? Olakira Camp – a luxury mobile camp that’s always well positioned to view the Great Migration throughout the year in the Serengeti National Park. The camp is very masculine yet intimate and authentic! It is run by guys only; Pascal (the camp manager) and his team are amazing!

10. Where is your favourite place to eat in Cape Town? Il Leone Mastrantonio for some Italian cuisine. It’s easily accessible from the V & A Waterfront, the city centre and Sea Point.
