What is a virtual wine experience? And how do I get to participate? These should be the burgeoning question on your lips right now, so let’s provide some answers.

Let’s start with introducing the belle of the ball – the Wine Fairy. She will be the host of this incredible event and take you on a wine journey like you have never experienced before. The Wine Fairy, or Katie as she might be known to you, has been sprinkling her magical energy and delight upon interested travellers looking to exploring the Cape Winelands and learn more about South African wine. Her knowledge, passion and joie de vivre is infectious and those who have been lucky enough experience her wine tours, like us, have fallen madly in love with her!

What is a Virtual Wine Safari?

Since travel is not entirely possible at the moment, the Wine Fairy has decided to come to you, virtually, and share, laugh and enjoy wine. All this while dreaming of the magical African wilderness and all the amazing places we are longing to explore and experience.

The Wine Fairy has set up a virtual wine tasting at 4pm on Saturday 6 March 2021 in two separate sessions (GMT and EST), so no matter where you are in the world you can sign up and enjoy.

What do I need to join?

You need an open mind, open heart and a bottle of your favourite drink (preferably wine) to enjoy. You have no obligation to do anything, however Katie is on hand to answer all your burning wine-related questions if you have any. She will also share some amazing stories about South Africa, her glorious wine and the incredible wild spaces we all love so much. So whether you are a novice or a wine connoisseur of great distinction – there is something for everyone to learn.

How do I book?

Click here and fill out the form to secure your spot. It’s that simple and easy. Katie, and Rhino Africa, can’t wait for you to join this unique Virtual Wine Experience – possibly the first of its kind, ever!

We can’t wait to Sip, Savour and Safari with you all soon!

About the author

Luke Lalin

Born and raised in Johannesburg, Luke ventured to a small town in the Eastern Cape, Grahamstown, where he studied at Rhodes University. Clearly not having studied enough, he then completed a finance degree just for fun - who even does this? Luke is passionate about travelling and was lucky enough to work in the USA for almost 2 years. However, his love for Africa was too strong and he returned home and moved to the spectacular city of Cape Town to pursue a career in the travel industry. Having once been a competitive swimmer, Luke can often be found doing laps in the pool. He is, however, a general fitness junkie and can be found doing anything from cycling, running, mountain biking, triathlon, tennis, squash or anything that gets the heart rate up.

  • So great to read as I got to live in Kenya from 1976 to 1989 and enjoy the wonderful game parks and coast there many times. My last journey back was in 1998. Take the opportunity to see this amazing part of the world if you have a chance.

    • Hi Sylvia, what a magical time to be living in Africa and so amazing that you got to explore the parks there. I will hopefully be able to return to Kenya this year – and can tell you all about it too.
