FIFA World Cup

City:Durban (Ethekwini)
Stadium: Moses Mabhida Stadium

A charming and cosmopolitan city which also doubles up as Africa’s busiest port. With a population of of over three million people, including a sizeable Indian community, it really is South Africa’s version of where east meets west.

Less fast-paced and furious than Johannesburg, Durban is also an excellent business and conference venue and has an array of centres and malls to cater for your shopping needs. The city certainly exudes a relaxed feel with its scenic streets and bustling beachfront. There are also pretty beaches where the water is always warm. Durban is subtropical and hardly ever gets cold so it is an excellent destination all-year round!

You can stay in the city itself with a number of luxury hotels which will serve you well whether on business or leisure. Or you can stay in the areas surrounding Durban such as Umhlanga which offer a more exclusive retreat on the palm-fringed coast.

The newly-built Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban will host one of the semi-finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. The ground epitomises the architectural innovation on display in South Africa and takes its design inspiration from the South African flag, with its grand arch representing the unity of this sport-loving nation. The two legs of the arch on the southern side of the stadium come together to form a single footing on the northern side, symbolising the new unity of a once-divided country. The stadium seats 70 000.
