Zambia The Real Africa

October 2, 2008

Unless you have travelled to the mighty Victoria Falls or have an indepth knowledge of Africa and it’s many destinations you may have no knowledge whatsoever of Zambia. Which is a crying shame as far as we are concerned! Zambia is spectacular, a unique and absorbing African destination and luckily for you we have just put the finishing touches to our brand new and comprehensive Zambia section of our website, putting you one step closer to enjoying a Zambian safari.

Zambia’s premier attraction is undoubtedly Victoria Falls , which it shares with neighbouring Zimbabwe. You can stay in either country but most travellers head to Zambia these days. One of the world’s seven natural wonders, the Falls are simply spectacular and when in full flood are the largest falling curtain of water in the world. And you can enjoy an array of activities in the ‘Adrenalin Capital’ of Africa.

With 19 national parks across the country, Zambia offers a great density and diversity of wildlife, and many many fine accommodation options to boot. The most popular reserve is probably the South Luangwa National Park. Covering 9050 sq km of pristine wilderness, it contains an incredible density and diversity of wildlife, including predators and prey alike, with 60 species of animals and 400 species of birds. It also offers amazing walking safaris where you can get up close with Africa’s wild animals and camp out under the stars after a day in the bush.

At 22,500 sq km, Kafue National Park is the country’s biggest reserve, and one of the largest in the world. It is a fertile eco-system teeming with antelope, hippos and predators congregating along the Busanga floodplains. And the Lower Zambezi National Park offers the opportunity to spot wildlife as you glide down one of Africa’s great rivers on a sunset cruise or a canoe trip. Located about 100km downstream from the Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River, the Lower Zambezi National Park is Zambia’s newest park. Relatively underdeveloped, it offers an authentic wilderness experience, bordering on Zimbabwe’s Mana Pools National Park, in itself a large untamed wilderness area.

We have selected, with the help of our resident Zambia experts, the top lodges, camps, hotels and accommodation in Zambia in all of the destinations above and now list them on our website.
