Londolozi Varty Camp is the historic centre from which Londolozi flows, and has a tremendous amount of character and authenticity that gives it a personal flavour! You are immediately drawn towards the four original rondavels that formed the original Sparta hunting camp many years ago and not far from here is the original camp fire that still burns in the same spot since the day Londolozi was formed.
Londolozi is derived from the Zulu word ‘to protect’ and this gives huge meaning to what the camp is today. The Varty family, who own and run the lodges, are especially involved in conservation with a modern day twist.
Both times that I have visited Londolozi, the staff have been absolutely awesome and together with the Learning Centre, Londolozi are really making an effort to educate their staff but give meaning to good service at the same time! The staff complement is generous with three staff to every guest so if you are fortunate enough to enjoy a Londolozi experience, regardless of the camp you stay at, you will feel truly pampered!
Varty Camp is the entry-level camp complete with 8 chalets and 2 superior chalets. Each chalet has a plunge pool with all the desired luxuries and they all offer uninterrupted views into the African bush.
Varty Camp is where it all happens – there is a Life Wellness Centre if you wish to enjoy a quick massage or treatment overlooking the bush, a Living Boutique if you are dying for some retail therapy, an Internet centre, a well stocked Wine cellar and a small museum giving you the history of Londolozi! So you can really keep yourself occupied and if things get too hot, then simply laze in your plunge pool or enjoy a swim in the bigger swimming pool.
