In today’s blog, our client, Glenn Weston from Australia, shares his memories with us. Glenn has just returned from an incredible safari (organised by consultant, Helen Kirby) at Londolozi and Sabi Sabi in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve.
Like many travellers going on a holiday, he had great expectations. He wanted to see a leopard high up on a tree. And so he did. Just take a look…
“The first two leopard photos [see above] were taken at Londolozi Private Game Reserve. I was so excited by them that I shed a small tear, but I still craved that ultimate ‘leopard lying on a tree’ moment. Greedy? Yes!
And then the moment came…
“When we saw Maxabeni (the leopard) laying in a tree at Sabi Sabi I cried like a baby. It was the most magical moment of my life. The second leopard in the tree (Lisbon), would you believe, was discovered on the 5 minute drive to the airport to depart. Michell, a ranger from Sabi Sabi, spotted it about 80 metres from the road.
“Now, I’ll tell you I check every tree when I’m on safari, but had switched off as I was sad to be leaving, so this was the most amazing discovery by her and farewell gift for us. This time all I could do was laugh because I told our ranger after the first sighting that I bet I see another one now given I had waited so long the first.
“We spotted a cheetah at Sabi Sabi as well and despite seeing them always being a special moment, it was made more special by the fact they hadn’t been seen in 2-3 months!”
