We would like to send congratulations and a warm Rhino welcome to Derek Hanekom, who has rightfully been reinstated as South Africa’s Minister of Tourism.  Derek has always worked hard to promote tourism in our incredible country, and is also a wonderful colleague and supporter of Rhino Africa.

As our currency strengthens under better ethical leadership and increased competition for global tourism arrivals continue, we believe Derek’s appointment will certainly be a feather in the cap of Brand South Africa, as we continue to take our rightful place on the world stage. We are thrilled to have someone who understands the landscape and the impact that tourism can have on transformation, community upliftment, employment opportunities, and the conservation of our precious wildlife.

Derek has always been a great friend of Rhino Africa, and it is reassuring to know that someone with such stature and experience in the industry will be able to guide and assist our industry in navigating the path to a strong, sustainable future.

We wish Derek all the best in his new post, and look forward to aligning ourselves with Derek and his team, who are all as passionate about Africa, her people, wildlife, and landscapes as we are.
