18 Things We Love About African Travel

September 7, 2022

As the World's Best Luxury Safari Company, it's no surprise that we love African travel. And who can blame us, as our continent is truly remarkable. We recently celebrated Rhino Africa's 18th birthday in August 2022. Yes, it's been 18 years of sharing Africa's magic with over 160,000 guests. And we don't plan on stopping any time soon! So, in celebration of our 18th birthday, here are the top 18 things we love about African travel.

Rhhino Africa travel experts love African travel

Our Rhinos love African travel of all kinds

1. African Travel is EXCITING

We can barely say the words "holiday" or "travel" without smiling. Add to that the word "Africa", and we're really grinning from ear to ear! Curating holiday experiences, once-in-a-lifetime honeymoons, forever-memorable family getaways, and more never stops being fun. And if the planning paints a smile on our faces, you can just imagine how excited we are when we're actually on the trip!

2. The Divine Diversity of African Travel

African travel is the perfect way for us to show off our continent's diversity. For most of us, the first thing that comes to mind when hearing "diversity" is culture. However, in Africa, it doesn't stop there. There's simply nowhere on Earth that offers the staggering diversity of experiences and settings that African travel offers.

3. Sharing African Travel with Others

Our Rhino Crash is passionate about African travel, so the thought of sharing our home with you inevitably makes our hearts sing. Knowing that what we do leads to another set of eyes witnessing incredible animal sightings, sublime sunsets or being wowed by Africa's natural wonders is a tremendous privilege.

 4. How African Travel Makes Us Feel

Knowing the feeling that awaits our guests when they touch down on African soil is what drives us. We've travelled all over our continent, so we know what's waiting for you...and, boy, will it blow you away! Therefore, we can't help but feel giddy with excitement about what lies ahead for you. And we'll happily live vicariously through you!

5. Africa's Assortment of Animals

For most of our guests, going on safari is one of the biggest reasons they visit Africa. The baffling assortment of animals found on our continent are natural entertainers, and we love that we play a part in setting the stage for them.

6. Experiencing Africa Through Our Guests' Eyes

Our biggest reward is hearing that "wow" from the back of a game vehicle or reading a review about breathtaking African travel moments. Knowing that what we do has the ability to make you gasp and create unforgettable memories is what motivates us.

 7. Cosmopolitan Cultures

Africa is blessed with a rich variety of history and cultures. Giving guests the chance to experience and immerse themselves in them is a fundamental part of African travel. And fascinating stories and traditions built over hundreds of years play their part in creating the magic of Africa.

8. Experiencing Epic Excursions

African travel is filled with activities, from adrenaline-fueled bungee jumping and gorge swings to walking safaris, the options are endless. And we believe it's part of what keeps guests returning to Africa over and over again. Africa never gets old, showing you a new side to her every time.

9. Enriching Our Continent's Communities

African travel plays an important role in enriching the lives of communities across the continent, for example, through job creation and development opportunities.

10. Feasting on Fantastic Food

Serving up world-class cuisine with an African twist is our way of showcasing our tantalising continent. Whether incorporating local influences or produce into classic dishes or putting a sensational spin on traditional meals, Africa is a culinary treat. And with three of the world's top 100 restaurants in 2022 found in the vicinity of Cape Town, you know you're in for a treat.

11. Cultivating Connections

Forming bonds and connections to people and places is part and parcel of African travel. Smiling faces are a feature of every destination you'll visit. We challenge you to find another place on Earth with such welcoming hospitality!

12. Wowing with World Wonders

When it comes to world wonders, Africa has a long list of notable natural treasures. For example, the thundering Victoria Falls and iconic flat-topped Cape Town's Table Mountain are popular landmarks on our guests' bucket lists.

13. Conservation At Its Core

Conservation and African travel are essential to each other. The funding generated from ecotourism plays a massive role in ensuring habitats and wildlife all over Africa are protected. By working hand in hand, ecotourism and conservation pave a path towards a sustainable future.

14. Sunsets and Sundowners

Watching the sun slip behind the horizon in an explosion of colour with a drink in hand is one of the most iconic moments of African travel. It's a bit of a ritual while on safari and will be one of your day's (many) highlights. We're just glad we get to do it every day.

16. African Travel Forms and Strengthens Bonds

Africa is built for making memories. There are simply so many ways that our continent drops jaws and blows minds. Wildlife sightings, scenic beauty and magical moments never seem to stop as you make your way around Africa. And there's something about sharing these memories that weaves a tighter bond between you and your loved ones. So, whether it's for a romantic or family holiday, you leave feeling so much closer to one another.

17. Exclusivity and Remoteness

Being whisked away into the wild, far from civilisation, is a rarity in modern life. African travel creates the chance to free yourself from the busy nature of everyday life by taking you places that are as far from it as possible. However, even though you might find yourself in the middle of nowhere, you don't have to rough it. Africa has plenty of extremely luxurious accommodation options to get the best of both worlds – nature and a high thread count. You also have many exclusive-use options that you can rent out for your tribe if you don't like sharing, often complete with your own dedicated staff at your beck and call.

18. The Big One: Leaving a Lasting Legacy

Ultimately our why is to make a difference on the African continent. We love that we can do just that through African travel by changing lives through conservation or community initiatives. When you travel with Rhino Africa, you leave a lasting legacy on our continent by helping us uplift local communities and protect wildlife and our wild landscapes for future generations.
