From Africa, with Love

We love hearing that our guests had a memorable stay, even more so when they throw in the word "life-changing". Here are some of our favourite stories of guests enjoying their romantic holidays in Africa.

"Second to None" Romantic Holiday in Kenya

"First off, Bianca Johnston from Rhino Africa has been helping my family with their African travel since 2011. From the first experience, we knew that we were dealing with someone who takes pride in her work. She is a professional and an expert in matching clients with the perfect itinerary.
My husband Daniel and I just arrived back from six nights in Kenya, and it was magical! Our itinerary was totally bespoke, and Bianca knows the small touches that make a holiday unforgettable. We cannot wait to plan our next adventure with Bianca!" – Patricia.

Seven Trips of Romantic Holidays with Rhino Africa

"Rhino Africa has been our go-to safari planner for seven safaris. We have never had any problems with any trip. All internal flights were on time all lodges were beyond our expectations. Any concerns we had while on our trip were addressed quickly by our travel consultant Carl Preller. Carl was easy to reach and responded quickly and efficiently to any concerns.
This safari was our longest, and three different lodges were booked. One lodge was in the Karoo and a considerable distance from the other two, Londolozi and Mala Mala. Carl arranged a flight that provided the best use of our time with little road travel and no missed game drives. Rhino Africa has always provided us with excellent photographic safari planning and advice, and this trip was even better than previous trips.

My husband needed wheelchair assistance at the major airports entering and leaving the country. Carl provided an excellent group of people for meet-and-greet assistance with the needed wheelchair. This helped my husband, who is 88, enjoy his trip without concern about the stress of the long airport walkways.
Rhino Africa has made all our safaris special and treated us with respect. The agents take time to learn your safari expectations and have so much lodge experience that they have guided us to the best lodges for leopard and cheetah photography. We are already beginning to plan our next trip with Rhino Africa, and we just returned! This company takes the stress out of foreign travel and makes you feel like you are their only customer. Thank you, Rhino Africa, for all your good work!" – Jerome.

"Fabulous Trip" to Joburg, Victoria Falls, Cape Town and Sabi Sand

"Samantha scheduled a fabulous trip to Africa for my husband and me. The amount of time in each locale was perfect, and we were very well "handled". The lodges/hotels were perfect, and her restaurant recommendations were spot on. We loved the private tour guides, and the safaris are experiences we will carry with us forever. Thank you, Samantha, for an incredible trip!  Ilene.

"First Safari" in South Africa, Zambia and Botswana

"We were so fortunate to have Justine Ryan plan an amazing 15-day, first-time trip to South Africa, Zambia and Botswana for us. My husband and I loved every minute of it! The properties, game drives, guides, trackers, wildlife viewing and food were all wonderful and far exceeded our expectations.
The transportation to all five different places went super smoothly, but it was nice to know that Justine was just a phone call away if we had any issues or needed anything. She even surprised me with a birthday lunch while we were in Cape Town! When we are ready to book Kenya and Tanzania, we will definitely be repeat customers." – David and Carol.

"Unforgettable Experience of a Lifetime" in South Africa

"My husband and I knew the dates we could take together for our planned holiday, but with demanding jobs and no concrete plans on "where to go/what to do" and with just three weeks before our trip – one email to Karen Engelbrecht from Rhino Africa saved us from a staycation with a very enticing 12-night trip itinerary to South Africa at a reasonable price.

First Stop: Cape Town

For our first few days in Cape Town, we had top-notch service with daily guided tour experiences, including Table Mountain and local historical sites, a peninsula tour . . . and a marine experience to see other sea life. Knowledgeable guides were fantastic in helping bring Cape Town's history to life, both humbling and educational. After action-filled days, it was welcoming to enjoy time before dinner with a few glasses of wine and the company of the Blackheath Lodge staff that grew to feel like family. Do not miss the culinary experiences offered at La Colombe in Constantia, set in a beautiful vineyard or Belly of the Beast, more of a speakeasy-style place.

Next: Cape Winelands

Following a private wine tour through Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, we spent two nights at the Boschendal Vineyard's Orchard Cottages. The views are stunning, and my husband and I wish we'd had just one more night so that we could have stayed in to braai (BBQ) by the fire.

Final Stop: Kapama Game Reserve

Our trip continued to hit new highlights as we then spent the final nights at Kapama Reserve Game Lodge bordering Kruger National Park. This place is stunning with views, amenities and teeming with all sorts of wildlife. We saw all the Big 5 and more while building a truly amazing friendship with our safari guide and tracker, who provided such rich education on the bush, the animals, the plants, and the connections that make up the circle of life.

From start to finish on the trip, my husband and I had all the details and support we needed to make the logistics seamless and let us focus on enjoying our time. Karen was immediately responsive to any questions that popped up and even helped us with a few last-minute tweaks for our internal flight changes when we found a more desirable return flight home from JNB instead of CPT.
For anyone wondering if a trip to South Africa is for you – reach out and have Karen at Rhino Africa curate a truly magical once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for you. You will not regret it!!  Nichole.

"An Expertly Curated Adventure" in Africa

"As somewhat seasoned travellers, my wife and I feel reasonably comfortable piecing together our own travel itineraries – we've successfully arranged multi-stop junkets to Europe and Asia – but the safari experience was a completely different animal (pun, fully intended).

Handing Over the Planning

That's why we are so pleased that we chose Rhino to orchestrate our recently concluded visit to Africa – a mind-blowing trip that exceeded our every expectation. The "orchestration" term is an apt one because our Rhino specialist seamlessly blended all the elements into an exciting, efficient, and harmonious whole. The process began (a couple of years ago) via a phone conversation with our Rhino consultant, Tara B. Taking our semi-formed ideas and ambitions, Tara crafted an exceptional journey that introduced us to Cape Town, Sabi Sand, Victoria Falls and Botswana
Throughout the planning, the channels of communication were free-flowing, fun and very attentive. From the big-picture issues (the choice of lodgings, flight connections and activities) to the finest details (dietary considerations and packing tips), Tara was our super-competent, always-available expert who keenly managed all the mechanics of the safari – leaving us to simply be comfortable and excited about what was to come.

Arriving in Africa

Once the journey commenced (Sept 5), every connection, tour and pick-up went off without a hitch – we were always warmly welcomed, recognised, and felt very special, indeed. Bonus kudos to Tara and Rhino, as this planning for adventure took form in the midst of Covid, so extra timings and considerations needed to be navigated. In the end, it was a vacation for the ages, and we loved every element of the trip.
It should be noted that throughout our safari, we bumped into other Rhino clients – all of whom were as delighted with their choice as we were with ours. Thank you to Tara B. and the entire Rhino Africa Team for an incredible experience – delivered with rock-solid expertise and extraordinary personal touch." – Grant.

"Most Phenomenal Service" Safari Holiday

"A native to south Africa, I wanted to take my American fiancé on a true South African safari experience. His first ever. After reaching out to a few travel agent companies...Carl Preller was the first who contacted me and set up a few package options for us, ranging from price to location to duration. From the start, he was extremely professional, helpful and friendly. Carl went above and beyond tenfold! In the end, he set us up for the most amazing, romantic, unforgettable Safari experience at Mhondoro Lodge.

He also checked in on us during our travels and after our travels...Along with arranging the smoothest car rental process I have ever experienced. We cannot recommend Carl or Rhino more! Rhinos emails were also helpful and very personal, offering an exclusive and elevated touch. We will be loyal to Rhino for our South African travel needs!" - Eber.
