The past weekend saw me and my partner jump into the car and zoot up the Garden Route to Plettenberg Bay. Situated on the east coast of the Western Cape and 5 and a half hours by road from Cape Town, this seaside town offers much to see and do like visiting Monkeyland, walking the Tsitsikamma Forest or just whale-watching. We decided to stop over in Knysna on the way. Milled around abit and then took a short 30 kilometer drive to Plett ,as the locals call it.
Our first stop was Tsala Tree Tops. There is very little to say other than “WOW”!! This is the ulimate in peace and serenity. The ideal place to leave the world behind and forget about the worries of life. Pearched in the trees and on stilts, this rustic feel,cabin-styled treehouse has the ultimate in luxury. Underfloor heating, fire-place,private rim-flow pool and a bathroom to die for. The bed looks out over the tree tops and the decor is a kaleidiscope of colour. Your every need is catered for from dietary to pampering massages and beauty treatments aswell as fine dining.Everything just screams 5 star luxury.
Next stop was something completely on the other scale. Also 5 star luxury but oh so very very chic. Clean lines, ocean tones and many textures make The Bay Lodge the city slickers ultimate getaway. Overlooking the bay and close to all the fine restaurants, The Bay Lodge offers style, sophistication and hospitality beyond your wildest dreams. Rooms are kitted with all the finest such as heated floors, heated towel rails, satelitte TV, DVD players, air-con and my best, your own personal Lavazza coffee machine. Breakfast was truely tasty with the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had. Cooked to perfection.
After 2 magical nights, we had to make our way back home to Cape Town leaving behind two Gems that I would highly recommend on your next trip up the Garden Route.
Go on, its worth the drive!!!!
