Lion Sands – Ivory Lodge

By Matthew Sterne on June 4, 2008

WOW WOW WOW – is all I can say! What a truly unbelievable and amazing lodge. I have taken my mother, brother and boyfriend separately – just for an excuse to go again and again. In fact, I am moving there. Lion Sands Ivory Lodge is truly spectacular – with an exquisite contemporary design, infused with wood and natural fabrics, a honeymooners haven. This lodge is for anyone looking for the ultimate in luxury in the bush, combined with privacy and attention to detail that will make your jaw drop. Words cannot describe this place – you simply have to go to get the full feel and experience.

The rooms are massive, completely glass fronted for views from every angle and consisting of a sweeping deck looking out onto the Sand River and the beautiful bushveld stretching out as far as the eye can see. Sunsets and sunrises will never be the same again. Your own heated, private, plunge pool awaits your senses. With your own private lounge and fire place as well as a massive bedroom, consisting of a gorgeous bed – extending into a most stunning bathroom that extends still further to your own private garden and outdoor shower. It truly is awe inspiring. Candles in every corner and stunning décor with every creature comfort thought of mean you simply won’t want to leave your room.

When you do finally exit your room, expect wooden walkways, curving through untouched bush all the way to the main lodge complete with a big wooden deck for eating breakfast, lunch and dinner. Boma dinners are offered, private dinners in various locations such as your room, the bush, the wine cellar or even the lounge – the variety is awesome and basically, your every whim will be catered for – you just need to express your desires and so they shall materialise. Ivory Lodge has left no stone unturned to ensure an exclusive and personalised safari experience. You just won’t want to leave – and you will be sure to return. Trust me.

Adding to this, you are in one of the richest game areas in the country, the Sabi Sands offering The Big Five, prolific bird life, a variety of antelope and just about any other animal endemic to southern Africa you can think of – game viewing is spectacular and after all, the main reason for your visit. Ivory Lodge has it all and much more.
