Cape Town lends a hand… and a guitar pick: The Good Work Gig.

Having lived in Cape Town long enough to call myself a Capetonian, I can confidently say that if you want to keep us entertained we need three things: a mountain view, a live band and a beach bar. The cunning people from the Good Work Foundation clearly know our kryptonite and have, in association with The Grand Café and Beach, decided to host an event in aid of their foundation and the families who rely on it.

This is how the Good Work Gig was born. The setting is one of Cape Town’s premier seaside locations and the evening will be set to music from The Dirty Skirts, Goodluck and Plush. A special auction with awesome prizes will take place, so you have a chance to make a difference in different ways. And for those seeking more drama the event will include, fire juggler and tarrot readers as well as many other surprises. This is set to be an evening that is sure to be the highlight of 2011’s social calendar!

And if the music, mountain, beach and celebs aren’t tempting you then consider this, the last 24 months have been a testing time for many with the economy in extreme turmoil. Many of us had to make huge sacrifices and adjustments, yet we endured, we survived. The real struggle is with the families of rural South Africa. There are families of eight living off R225 per month, fighting for their survival everyday.

For the fortunate ones, times are on the mend and this is my plea to please find it within yourself to lend whatever you can in aid of this incredible foundation. Let us all get together for a beautiful night of fun and great music but most importantly the generosity of the human spirit.

Cape Town knows how to do good!

Event Details:

11 February from 6pm
