Accountants Gone Wild

By Tamlin Wightman on January 9, 2014

Our Accounts Department left their calculators and ledgers behind and embarked on a safari break in the Sabi Sand, along with our COO John Holley. Needless to say, our team of number-crunchers don’t get out of the office much so that was already a highlight. But there were many more highlights to come…

The team stayed at Chitwa Chitwa and Londolozi, two luxury lodges in what we call the Rolls Royce of Game Reserves – the Sabi Sand.

Below we’ve featured some of the beautiful photographs John took on the trip, using his trusty Nikon D90.

John says, “The highlight was undoubtedly the lion kill. The Sparta pride slayed a zebra foal in front of us. Room 11 at Chitwa Chitwa was very special as was my cycle around the Chitwa reserve with the owner, Charl.”

Dannie says, “My favourite part of the trip was the lion kill as well. We watched as nine lions chased and took down a zebra. Nature at its rawest! I also loved the game drives, both in the morning and evening, seeing all of the Big 5 and the excellent accommodation and food, like the boma dinners. And nothing beats an African sunset with sundowners!”

(Carlo, Jeanne and Yolanda could not be reached for comment. They seem to think they’re still on holiday.)

The Leopard

Did You Know: The secretive and elusive leopard is, kilogram for kilogram, the strongest climber of the large cats and is capable of killing prey larger than itself.

Did You Know: Both lions and hyenas will take away a leopard’s kill if they can. To prevent this leopards store their larger kills in trees where they can feed on them in relative safety. [Source]
