If every honeymoon was like this, there would be more weddings…

By Tamlin Wightman on October 17, 2014

It is said that humans have an innate need for nature. That we possess a natural tendency to seek a connection to the earth and all its life forms.

German-born American psychoanalyst Erich Fromm coined the term, Biophilia, to describe this hypothesis – what he called “the passionate love of life and of all that is alive.”

Nature has a way of reminding us about that love, inspiring us with lessons about everything from cuddling to being still, and not worrying about who’s watching, as one Londolozi guest, Lissa Rankin, described it. It can’t be denied that the “free air life” or friluftsliv, as the Norwegians call it, uplifts the spirit, makes us appreciate the world more. If ever there was a time when we needed to be reminded of that intrinsic love of life, it’s on honeymoon.

Our clients Marc and Kirsten de Lorimier have just returned from their honeymoon adventure at Londolozi Private Game Reserve in the Sabi Sand – the perfect place to be marooned for a few days.

As Marc says,

If every honeymoon was like this, there would be more weddings…

Londolozi was the experience of a lifetime! From the guides and trackers to the accommodations, food and wine, everything went well beyond any expectations. Given the price, it’s going to be hard to go often but this is a once in a lifetime bucket list. Londolozi Luxury.

The minute we arrived at the lodge we looked out and could see giraffe along the horizon, then we were shown our room and wow – what an amazing place. On our first drive we saw a pack of lions and wild dogs. On our second we saw the Big 5!  And it just got better from there, our third drive included a fresh kill with another pack of lions and they feasted for days.

The staff surprised us with a special personalized dinner and lit candles all around our room with rose pedals and champagne next to the tub. On one of our last drives we saw a black rhino!

If every honeymoon was like this, there would be more weddings…

Here are some photos from our trip I would like to share.

Thanks again Rhino Africa and Landy for your recommendations…
