Our Top 15 Instagram Photos You Have to See

By Matthew Sterne on August 11, 2016

Close-ups, action shots and affectionate moments; those seem to be the photos our Instagram followers enjoy the most.

And looking at this collection of striking photos we think they’re on to something.

These are 15 of our most popular Instagram photos from the past year.

Baby Kitui with step-brother Hope on @lewa_wildlife. Lewa conservancy has been home to many orphans of poaching over the years. Hope, left, unfortunately passed away some months ago due to a bacterial infection despite veterinarians’ greatest efforts. Baby Kitui however is growing bigger and stronger daily, hoping to be released back into the wild some day. Conservancies like Lewa play one of the most important roles in saving endangered species like the black rhino, providing them space and a protected area to live in. This moment captures the gentle, peaceful nature of these prehistoric-looking beasts. As I write these words, probably 2 or 3 more rhinos have been shot to death for their horns. There is a battle going on between the species and the poachers and unfortunately the rhinos are currently losing the battle. What we should understand is that it is not a local problem or the problem of rhinos only. We are on the same side with the rhinos and WE are LOSING as well. We should all be aware and we should act.
